Taking Time

It has been forever since I have been able to sit down and actually update my blog! Well, today is the day, I am just going to take a little time to do this!

We get so busy during this time of year and forget to actually take time to relish in what the true meaning of the holidays are. We are always rushing around trying to find that perfect Halloween costume, get that perfect turkey for Thanksgiving and making sure everyone on our list has a gift under the tree for Christmas, But, in the true reality of things , does it really matter?  What I mean by this is, if your child didn't have the coolest costume on the block would he/she get less candy? If you had hamburgers instead of turkey for Thanksgiving are you any less thankful? If there were no presents under the tree would it not be Christmas? The answer to all of these should be no, we get so caught up in the superficial rituals in holidays that we forget the true meanings and in turn become stressed and broke! How do we break the cycle? Do we bother breaking the cycle? When is enough, enough?? I have no room to give advice to any of the questions but the thought crosses my mind every year! My children are so blessed to have what they have and I always get emotional thinking of other kids who do not have the things that they do. I try to teach them to be grateful for everything they are given and to thank God for those things as well because without Him none of it would be possible. So, I guess what we all should do is to just take time to thank God for our many blessings and thank him for sending His Son, Jesus to save us from our sins, because that is the true meaning of the holidays!
